A changed state

Is it worth having a debate? Is it constructive to discuss and argue? I myself become more and more doubtful as the years go by. No one influences anyone else and debaters already have their arguments ready at the end of primary school. It's extremely seldom that people change their minds, and when they do, it's due to conscious propaganda, manipulation or formation of opinion. Why do we have to listen to the politicians' eternal smear campains. Decisions are still made behind closed doors and the "people's voice" weighs so lightly.

The concept of "democracy" is like a Darwinist's wet dream; co-determination and equal rights for all (but only for the strong who manage to make their voices heard). I propose a new constitution, no more pseudo-democratic elections but a society built on knowledge and quality. "The right person in the right place", is my motto. The school should be the institution that, with love and fingertip sensitivity, determines what individuals are best suited for. All people have hidden gifts, it's just a matter of bringing them out in the open.
